By accurately lining up the MV-90 with the vent on the back of your dryer, you can optimize the vent path and even position your dryer further back. It typically requires 5 1/2 inches of clearance behind the dryer, but if you have an obstruction and need to use the maximum 3-inch offset, your dryer will need to sit out an additional 3 inches to accommodate the bend radius in the transition duct. When dealing with close vent offsets between the dryer and the wall vent located on the same wall (offsets between 6-9 inches), the MV-90 can be coupled directly to a standard 4-inch diameter, adjustable, 90-degree elbow, creating a 9-inch offset. If your offset is 6 inches, you can utilize the MV-90 and an elbow to take advantage of its ability to handle misalignment up to 3 inches. For same-wall offsets greater than 9 inches, simply mount the MV-90 behind your dryer, plug the 90-degree elbow into the wall vent, and measure the required length of rigid metal pipe between them.
This way, you can customize the installation to suit your specific needs. If your same-wall offset is between 0 and 3 inches, the MagVent MV-180 is the recommended product for you. It offers 90-degree venting, enabling vent pipes to exit either the side wall, floor, or ceiling in both new and existing constructions. The MagVent MV-90 has a standard dryer vent size of 4" and is made of UL 2158 (0 Flame Spread) transition hose, ferrite ring magnets, and stamped aluminum sheet metal. It can be mounted with the tail pointed downward for a vertical installation. The dryer side piece can come off without tearing, making cleaning easy. MagVents are safe to use on gas dryers and there shouldn't be water in your vent stream unless something flooded. The unit is 4 inches against the wall.
