Answer: I highly recommend starting potty training with a small floor potty. My son eventually graduated to using this potty, but they need to be able to get to the toilet on their own. -

Answer: I believe the 183EC doesn't slow close the seat lid and the 83slow does. -

Is the base of the seat also slow close as it is 'molded wood', or only the lid?
Answer: Yes, the base of the seat and the lid both slow close. The toddler insert does not, but it is made of a lighter plastic so it doesn't make too much noise on its own. -

Does this fit an elongated bowl?
Answer: The dimensions listed are 19 x 15 x 2.3. I measured this product and it is about 14.5 x 17.5. It is not elongated. -

Is the potty seat flush against the toilet seat or are there little rubber bumpers?
Answer: No bumpers. It sits flush against the regular size seat ring. I love this toilet seat!!!! So much easier to use and clean! -
