Kester Solder Editorial Review

The Kester 24-6337-8800 50 Activated Rosin Cored Wire Solder Roll is an excellent product for PCBs and cellphone PCB soldering. Its low melting point and good finish make it easy to use. It also cleans easily with different contact cleaners and Flux. This solder is an RMA solder or Rosin Mildly Activated, with a very safe flux that doesn't require post-cleaning, though the surface to be soldered must be clean. The core size is determined by the amount of flux needed for an application. Overall, this product is easy to work with and solders well. It is Consistent and can be depended on. The activated rosin is a stronger flux and leaves much less of a mess than standard rosin. This solder melts at a reasonable temperature for hand soldering and would wick easily into plated through-holes, providing a strong, reliable weld with ultra-low resistance. However, some users reported that it is much less flux in it than regular solder, so it can be dry and stringy and hard to work with.
