PACIFICIMAGEELECTRONICS Slide & Negative Scanners Editorial Review
The Pacific Image PrimeFilm XAs Film Scanner is a 35mm film and slide scanner that offers auto roll film and film strip scanning, auto focus, and a 10000 dpi/48-bit output. The scanner comes with Silver Fast 8 software and is compatible with both Mac and PC. While some users have reported trouble with the focus, the scanner's auto-focus feature generally works well. It is also compatible with SilverFast 8.8 SE software and can batch-scan film strips. However, it can only scan negatives and requires a slide mount for individually cut frames. It is compatible with Mac OS 10.7 or higher. The scanner is capable of handling heavily curled old negatives. It may be the same as the reflecta rps 10 m sold in Europe and comes with SilverFast SE Plus 8 software. The scanner has the capability for multiexposure features without the need for software upgrades. Overall, the scanner produces sharp scans with good color, but it can be slow and has occasional software quirks.
