The KMC X9.99 chain is a very strong replacement chain that does not need oil initially. It can be used in a 9-speed drivetrain and comes with a missing link that is difficult to disassemble. The chain is not rust-proof, and the links are silver-colored making it a full-plated chain. Overall, the chain shifts well, but some customers have reported that it is noisy, and in some cases, it did not fit certain drivetrains.
