The keyboard must be plugged in to your laptop to use the backlights fully. It comes with a paper manual. There are six backlight modes that can be changed using the FN+A1-A6 keys. This keyboard is recommended as a good entry point to a mechanical keyboard without spending a lot of money. It is loud and enjoyable, with a nice tactical feedback bump when typing. The downside is that the instructions on the lighting are tough to understand. The keys are heavy, so it's quite an upgrade from standard keyboards.
