Answer: The valve has nuts that can be driven by an Allen wrench to disassemble it. But the question is: Why take it apart? If you need to clean it, a small brush will do, and to sanitize, dip for a few minutes in a sanitizer such as Star-San. -

Answer: You can get a 2” tri clamp fitting that has a male thread in the opposite end. This can fit into a PVC adapter that has a female thread fitting on one end and a slip fitting on the other. If you go this route, use appropriate pipe compound in the threaded ends and a steel hose clamp.

The DERNORD Butterfly Valve is a stainless steel 304 tri clamp clover valve that comes with a 1.5-inch diameter. The blue trigger handle is made of plastic and covers the metal handle which releases the valve. The butterfly valve comes with silicone seals and seats and can be disassembled using nuts that can be driven by an Allen wrench. It can be connected to 2-inch tri-clamp fittings and can be cleaned using a small brush. It is also easy to sanitize by dipping it in a sanitizer such as Star-San. It is a great addition to a boiler/still set-up and makes draining 100 times easier. Dernord sanitary fittings are cost-effective and excellent, but they are Made in China. While most customers found the product to be good quality with nice valves for the price, some of them experienced issues with the gasket. The red gasket has failed on three of the six valves, and some buyers found that the gasket wasn't properly inserted in the valve, making it unable to close all the way. A few customers found that the valves sealed shut and were difficult to open without breaking the handle.
