The Crimes of Grindelwald: The Original Screenplay is the second book in the Fantastic Beasts series and is a screenplay of the second movie of the same name. The story revolves around the character of Grindelwald who is building a following of dangerous minions and preaching tolerance and freedom to the world. However, secretly he wants to take over the world and make muggles “beasts of burden”. The book introduces new characters and tries to make the readers care for them by giving them complex backstories. The book, however, fails in creating an emotional punch in the readers as it doesn't explain much about the characters. Although the book has stunning visuals and a handful of new beasts, it doesn't have a plot and comes across as a filler. Moreover, the abysmal treatment of female characters takes away the essence of the story. People have given mixed reviews, while some loved the book for its magical creatures and characters, others found it a mess and a real let down from the movie.
