What grade steel is this?
Answer: Sorry, I don't know the grade. It is a carbon steel, though, not stainless. It sharpens perfectly with inexpensive whetstones. It suppose it may rust a little if not oiled or protected in some way. My oldest Opinel folding carbon steel knife is going on 20 years now, has seen quite a lot of use almost every day, hasn't rusted, and holds its edge as well now as the day I first bought it. The locking ring on this one is finally getting a bit loose now. Hope this helps.
